Callista Clark is an American singer and songwriter who came into the spotlight in February 2021 when she published her debut EP titled Real to Me. She had co-written all 5 of the tracks on the EP. The lead single from the EP, titled It’s ‘Cause I Am, had peaked at number 30, 20, and 43, on the US Country, the US Country Airplay, and the Canadian Country music charts, respectively. This made her the most successful ‘debut artist’ on American country music radio stations in 2021. Before this, a 2017 Facebook video of hers had gone viral, amassing more than 29 million views. The video was a cover of the hit song titled Have You Ever Seen the Rain? from the album Pendulum (1970) by the roots rock group Creedence Clearwater Revival.

A child prodigy, Callista had started singing at a very young age. She grew up listening to country music from the 1980s and the 1990s. The first public place she ever sang was at a church where her grandfather was a pastor.She learned how to play the ukulele when she was 10 years old and began playing the guitar about a year later. Soon, she began learning more instruments including the piano, banjo, and mandolin. She wrote her first song, aged 11, as a poem in a school poetry contest. It was titled Wildfire.When she was 12 years old, she performed with renowned American singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer Jennifer Nettles at an event organized by 4-H, a U.S.-based network of youth organizations. Its name is a reference to the occurrence of the letter ‘H’ 4 times in the organization’s original motto ‘head, heart, hands, and health’.American record executive, talent manager, and entrepreneur Scott Samuel ‘Scooter’ Braun had decided to manage Callista’s career when she was just 13 years old. This was after he was impressed by one of her viral YouTube videos.
