Matthew Timothy Healy is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. This article will talk about Matty Healy’s parents.
Born in Hendon to Denise Welch and Tim Healy, Matty met Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann, and George Daniel at Wilmslow High School, and later formed 1975, with whom he has released four extended plays and five UK Albums Chart-topping albums. He is the frontman of 1975.
He is noted for his erratic behaviour on stage, his social media activity, and a number of other controversial comments. In 2002, Healy formed 1975, along with lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer and producer George Daniel, who he had met at Wilmslow High School. He was originally the drummer but was promoted to frontman after the departure of Elliott Williams.
They released four extended plays (Facedown in August 2012, Sex in November 2012, Music for Cars in March 2013, and IV in May 2013) before releasing the albums, “I Like It When You Sleep, “for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It (2016), A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships (2018), Notes on a Conditional Form (2020) and Being Funny in a Foreign Language (2022), all of which topped the UK Albums Chart.
In October 2022, he attracted criticism after telling a fan called Dervla that her name “sound[ed] like something you move gravel with”. In January 2023, Healy’s behaviour on stage attracted further comment, after he sucked a fan’s thumb on stage.
Healy has previously suffered from addictions to heroin and benzodiazepines; and attended six weeks of intensive cognitive behavioral therapy in Barbados paid for by his bandmates in November 2017. His rehabilitation included horse therapy. Many of the songs on A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships were written about his stay, including “Surrounded by Heads and Bodies”, which was written about a woman he met there called Angela, with whom he felt a connection despite rarely actually interacting her, and who it later transpired lived on the same road in Manchester as he did.
Matty is the son of British actors Tim Healy and Denise Welch. Tim is best known for portraying Dennis Patterson in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, Lesley Conroy Benidorm, and Gastric in Still Open All Hours.
Meanwhile, Denise is known for co-hosting the British talk show Loose Women, and for her work acting in the TV series Down to Earth, Coronation Street, and Waterloo Road, among others.
Tim and Denise were married from 1988 to 2012. During that time, they welcomed two sons: Matty was born on April 8, 1989, and Louis arrived in 2001. Denise went on to marry Lincoln Townley in 2013. Meanwhile, Tim married Joan Anderton in 2015.
